Merrill is a retired Family Medicine Physician with a long term passion for photography. During his college days, he worked with a local photography studio learning portrait and wedding photography. Over the years he has done weddings and portraits, but the hobby has evolved into landscape photography. His first camera was the Minolta SRT 101. Over the years, film cameras included Nikon, Mamiya and Hasselblad. Since converting to digital, he has used Nikon equipment. In 2017, he added Fujifilm cameras and lenses, while holding onto Nikon as well, but eventually using only Fujifilm cameras and lenses. One camera has been converted to Infrared.
Images are edited with Lightroom, Bridge and Photoshop. Occasionally, Nik Collection by DXO is also used, particularly Silver Effex Pro. Although not frequently created, HDR images are processed with Aurora HDR.
After retirement from medicine in 2019, he plans to travel to as many National Parks as possible, exploring the beauty of America.
